Omega is one of the world’s most popular watch brands. It was the first watch to be worn on the moon, known for its involvement in the Olympics, the Mariana Trench expedition and of course the James Bond movies. These characteristics have made the brand a popular option among watch collectors.

Despite the fact that the brand’s offering has been “simplified” over time, today we’ll go through the four most popular collections of Omega Watches in Cyprus: the Constellation, the Seamaster, the Speadmaster, and finally the De Ville Collection.

Omega Constellation

The Constellation collection has been around for 66 years, making it one of Omega’s oldest collections. What began as a men’s chronometer in 1952 has gone through numerous aesthetic changes, from pie-pan dials in the 1950s to ultra-thin quartz watches in the 1970s, leading to the collection’s unification in 1982 with the Constellation Manhattan with its signature claws.

Many Constellation models nowadays feature Master Chronometer movements, which honor the family’s original mission of combining luxury and precision.

The domed dial, also known as a “pie-pan dial”, was also a unique characteristic of several Constellation watches of the 1950s and 1960s.

The Constellation also received another transformation with the addition of more models especially designed for women. Women’s Constellation models featured ultra-thin calibres with semi-precious stone dials and extravagant gold brocade bracelets.

The Constellation Manhattan series debuted in 1982 and it is one of the few watch designs from the 1980s that has “stood still” over the period of time.
In 2003, the Constellation Double Eagle was launched at the Omega European Masters Golf Tournament and then it was upgraded with Omega’s first Co-Axial calibre 2500.

In 2015 Omega Constellation launched the Globemaster collection, with METAS-certified Chronometer movement, where it marked the return of the classic Constellation style for men, with pie-pan dials.

In addition to the Manhattan collection, new dials, more refined claws, ‘mono-rang’ bracelets engineered for maximum comfort, and new butterfly claps were all added to the Manhattan in 2009.

Then in 2018, the Constellation Manhattan series for women was enhanced to include a variety of models with and without diamonds, a repositioned date display at 6 o’clock, smaller lugs, polished bevels, more stylized and skeletonized hands, and a variety of dial options.

Omega Seamaster

The Omega Seamaster has traveled a long way since 1932 when Omega developed a unique sliding casing design to protect it from water. Since then, the Omega Seamaster has been perceived as smart, athletic, big, little, quartz, mechanical, and electronic, and it has had a variety of looks.

Since 1995, the Seamaster has been seen in every James Bond film. A stainless steel case and bracelet, screw-in crown and caseback, engraved with the Omega logo, water resistance up to 1200-meters, luminescent hands, unidirectional bezel, blue, silver, or black dial with orange accents, sapphire crystal, and helium release valve are typical features of an Omega Seamaster, as well as the waterproof seal provided by an O-ring gasket was a major feature of the watch.

This design was originally intended for use in submarines during WWII, but it turned out to be helpful for timepieces as well, as it made them far more resistant to temperature and pressure changes than earlier based gasket designs.

Seamaster watches are available in a variety of colors, bracelets, movements, and casing sizes; and up until now collectors and admirers continue to see the watch as a “modern classic” with an outward “go anywhere” attitude and the elegance of a dress watch.

There are diving watches, exquisite sports watches, and vintage-inspired timepieces to choose from; the Seamaster is the company’s oldest watch collection, and it is still in production today and is considered to be one of the best Omega Watches in Cyprus.

Omega Speedmaster

During an era when dress watches “ruled” the market, the Omega Speedmaster has a few honours on its back! After being the first watch worn on the Moon, the famous chronograph is widely regarded as one of the most important timepieces in history.

The original Speedmaster is without a doubt one of Omega’s most well-known timepieces. The watch comes in a variety of styles, including “pre-moon” references from before 1969, the “Moonwatch” series, and even vintage-inspired and racing-themed models. In 1957, Omega released the Speedmaster and it was only in production for two years; until 1959.

Manufacturers of chronographs like the Speedmaster, were less concerned with following industry trends or capturing people’s attention, and more focused on developing watches that served their purpose successfully.

That’s why the Speedmaster is certainly one of Omega’s most recognizable watches along with a variety of versions. While the basic design stays the same, including chronograph capabilities and a tachymeter bezel, the case, dial, movement, size, and materials are all different.

Omega Speedmaster watches can have straight or twisted lugs, depending on the year of manufacture. Both the dial and the tachymeter bezel can be customized in a variety of ways and the Omega logos can be applied or printed and is also available with a variety of bracelet variations.

Omega De Ville

Since its introduction in 1967, the Omega De Ville range has epitomized a classy aesthetic that offers an alternative to sports models.

The Omega De Ville has become famous for its exquisite lineage and one of the most sought-after watches in the world, thanks to its streamlined and classic design and first-rate movements.

The Omega De Ville Prestige series has long been a pillar of the brand’s collection, providing customers with a classically styled, dressy alternative at a little lower price range. For 2020, Omega has reintroduced this line, giving the existing 39.5mm models a fresh dial concept.

The aim was to create a cleaner, more unified, and slightly more vintage design that maintains the De Ville Prestige series’ conservative finesse.

The new De Ville Prestige models’ dial designs take an evolutionary approach to rejuvenating the series but still giving the “mid century” aesthetic.
The series features a stainless steel case, a blue dial that is more contemporary, and a redesigned display.

Afterall, the Omega’s De Ville Prestige series is for individuals who look for something classic, elegant, and understated. The proportions are compact, the dials are detailed, polished, and timeless, and the movements are simple but yet adhere to Omega’s commitment to precision and dependability.

Founded in 1848, OMEGA is a watch brand that stands for quality, innovation, and precision. The company has always been characterised by its pioneering spirit, as shown by its conquests of the oceans, space, as well as its involvement in sports timekeeping. OMEGA’s history in watchmaking has been devoted to the pursuit of excellence and Onnik couldn’t be more proud to be one of OMEGA’s authorised dealers in Cyprus.
