Few brands can claim a history as rich in American history as Hamilton.
Being known as a “pocket watch” for the U.S military in 1914, the brand went on to become a major provider of watches during both World Wars. During this time, Hamilton established an unrivalled reputation for dependability and accuracy in timekeeping, and the United States Navy became one of Hamilton’s most important military customers.
During WWII, the Navy wanted a nearly unbreakable watch that could be worn by elite forces such as the United States Navy’s Underwater Demolition Team, or Frogmen (forerunners to today’s Navy SEALs), and the Hamilton Frogman ticked all the boxes to the maximum! met the unit’s stringent standards.
The Hamilton Khaki Navy Frogman Automatic 46mm, is the latest generation of the Frogman, and maintains the same strong “construction” as the previous models, but with a modernised design that is suitable for all adventures and activities.
With 300m of water resistance and constructed to survive the abuse of underwater demolition crews, the Hamilton Frogman has been features in over 500 action movies and documentaries including “Behind the Breath”, Hamilton’s most recent video project that shows Piere Froolar’s (World Champion Freediver) exciting life and accomplishments! Frollan has also worked on other personal projects wearing no other than his favourite Hamilton Frogman.
The brand new Frogman comes in a 46mm 316-L stainless steel case with the line’s characteristic crown protector, which has been slimmed down while still providing the same level of protection. The bezel has also seen an upgrade, with raised numerals and indices.
Legibility and functionality are at the forefront of design in all Hamilton Khaki watches.
As a result, the hands and markers are big and bold in Super-LumiNova.
Furthermore, the hour hand and tip of the second hand are highlighted in orange for easy reading against the matte black dial. The Frogman is designed as a tool for adventure, and gives up the use of a date in favour of simplicity and clarity. The Frogman, on the other hand, isn’t merely utilitarian, with nickeled applied indices and hour and seconds hands that make the watch appropriate for any occasion.
Inside the case, Hamilton’s H-10 automatic movement beats at 21.6kbph and has an impressive 80 hours of power reserve, as well as accurate timekeeping thanks to the NivachronTM balance spring. The Hamilton Khaki Navy Frogman Automatic 46mm comes in three variations: black dial with black bezel, black dial with steel bezel, and a blacked-out, PVD-coated stealth variant. The timepieces are offered with a black or olive-green rubber wave strap, which provides both style and utility.
The stainless-steel variants of the Frogman are also available on a three-link bracelet for those who prefer a bracelet.
