Blog
Founded in October 1963, Onnik Yenovkian & Son Ltd is one of the most reputable watch retailers, located in the heart of Larnaca, at Zinonos Kitieos Street.
Also known as Onnik Time Center, we are authorised dealers for a number of exclusive Swiss watches as well as a number of other well-known fashion brands, in a wide range. We have a wide range of price points that meet the needs of every customer.
All of the timepieces sold in our shop are authentic and come with a 2-5 year warranty.
At Onnik Time Center Watches, we have extensive experience in watch repairs and servicing and we always make sure that we take care of your watch according to factory specifications so it remains in perfect condition.
Our services include from replacing a worn-out strap to fixing a damaged watch – thus we have been recognised for our professional watch repairs and quality services by many Swiss manufacturers.
Even if your watch appears to be in good working order, we always recommend our customers to maintain or examine their watches approximately every four to five years. This is because lubricants that prevent friction tend to go hard, and over time, they might break down, and as a result their components need to be replaced.
Complete Watch Servicing
When you bring your mechanical watch to Onnik Time Center for a service, we go through a series of tests to ensure that your watch is returned in working order.
First, we examine the case and dial, and then we take the movement out of the case to disassemble it.
We will identify where the problem is and replace the original components.
All of your watch’s little parts will be placed in a basket and will go under a thorough cleaning in a special machine.
After all parts are cleaned we assemble everything together, while using different oils to oil all of the relevant joints.
Using accurate timing equipment, we set the watch to its precise time.
Before we finish, we replace the movement in the case and then check the hands and date. To check your watch’s timekeeping, we use an automatic winder, and finally to make sure that everything is in working order, for three days, we double check the watch operation.
Quartz Full Servicing
Quartz watches do not have as many moving parts as mechanical watches, but they still need to be checked on a regular basis. Here are the steps we follow when servicing your Quartz watch:
- We test the case and dial.
- We remove the battery, the check and we disassemble the movement from the case
- We identify your watch’s problem and replace its original components.
- Just like all watches, we place all the small parts into a basket for a deep cleaning with our special machine.
- Once everything is cleaned, we put everything together while using different oils to oil the relevant joints.
- To test all aspects of the watch (e.g.: quartz, coil and rotor), we use our special quartz tester.
- We place movement back into the case, and we make sure that the hands and date are working properly.
- We clean and double check your watch’s operation for three days.
Battery Replacement
A battery-powered watch can stop working at any moment. As a result, we recommend that you replace or check your watch’s battery at least every 1-2 years. Leaving batteries longer may cause leaks that could damage your watch!
Replacing the battery in your watch is a simple procedure.
We first open the watch’s back case very carefully, we check, remove and then replace the battery. Once we make sure that the quartz, coil and wheels are running properly we replace the seal (if needed). Finally, we set the correct date and time, and you are set to go!
Water Testing
If you are a regular swimmer or one of those people who wear their watch while swimming then you should consider testing your watch to prevent water from entering inside your watch.
Therefore, our advice is to double-check the watch’s seals every 2-3 years to keep them in good shape and water-resistant.
You can always visit our store to verify whether your watch is water-resistant, or if it’s not, if you wish we can always order the necessary seals and components and water test your watch to determine the required pressure that will allow you to enter the water.
Watch Polishing
Every watch should be checked once a year to ensure maximum quality and condition due to wear and tear. Doing this, you preserve the value of your watch and maintain your wristwatch clean and undamaged.
We have the expertise to restore your timepiece to its original condition.
When you bring your watch to us, we make a thorough check and give you a quote of how much the polish will cost.
We then isolate the watch from the bracelet, buckle, case and movement, and with the use of different mops and pastes we remove all the scratches and dirt.
When the case and buckle are polished we wash each component by hand and put them into a rinsing basket with special liquids for further cleaning.
Once all parts of the watch are dried, we assemble everything together for the final check.
Strap Replacement
At Onnik Time Center we sell a variety of watch accessories including leather and rubber straps, as well as and metallic bands, from a wide selection of colours and sizes ranging from 6mm to 36mm. It is always a good idea to change your watch strap every 1-2 years to keep your watch clean and in good shape.
Watch Winders
We provide and sell watch winders, enabling the customer to set the watch within the box, allowing it to move in a circular rotation. This will keep the watch wound up and in working order, and you’ll never have to worry again about setting the time and date on your wristwatch.
Valuation
Quality watches are also considered a good investment because they do not lose much of their worth over time. Therefore it is critical that you insure them against any damages, loss, and theft.
Our experience and knowledge allow us to provide you with an appropriate assessment and valuation of your watch based on your insurance needs.
Here at Onnik Time Center, not only we sell exclusive watches, but at the same time, we specialise on watch repairs and services, from battery replacement to complete improvements.
We handle each watch with care and respect, using our expert skills and experience, as well as high-tech equipment, to deliver high-quality after-sales support to our customers.
